Just days after opening the Phase III section of the bike path, Deputy Mayor Tim Donohue announced an investigation into irregularities that prompted delays and incomplete work on the Phase II section of the popular path. Donohue said that residents were permitted to use the path, even though the asphalt work was incomplete and curbing, signage and other safety measures were not in place. These conditions persisted for close to a year. At least one person is known to have been injured on the path. Donohue said the bid specifications and contracts would be reviewed by the Township Engineer and Solicitor and that Open Public Records requests had been filed as well.
