The two candidates who are seeking one seat in the November 2nd municipal election in Middle Township will participate in a debate. The debate will be held on Tuesday, October 26th, at 7:00pm inside the studios of Coastal Broadcasting Systems in Rio Grande. The debate will last for one hour, and be broadcast live on radio station WCZT 98.7FM, The Coast. Moderators for the debate will be WCZT News Director Denis Brown, and Cape May County Herald reporter Joe Hart.
“This will be an excellent way for Middle Township residents to hear exactly where each candidate stands on the issues”, Brown said. “Coastal Broadcasting Systems has a long history of presenting live debates on the radio, and we’re pleased to be partnering with our neighbors, the Cape May County Herald, for this debate”.
The Middle Township committee election is widely regarded as the most high-profile municipal election in Cape May County this year. Current Middle Township Mayor Susan DeLanzo, a democrat, is facing a challenge from Michael Voll, an independent. Voll used to serve Middle Township as a member of the township committee for 18 years.
Questions that will be asked of the candidates will be prepared by the news departments of both media outlets. Each candidate will be offered the opportunity for an opening and closing statement. Neither candidate will be privy to the questions or topics before the debate.
WCZT Radio and the Cape May County Herald also participated in a Lower Township Ward One council debate on Friday, October 15th. WCZT will follow these debates with live election night coverage on Tuesday, November 2nd hosted by Brown and Scott Wahl; updates will be available on the radio station’s website, www.987thecoast.com. Tthe Herald will also provide full election night coverage on its website that evening, www.capemaycountyherald.com.
