On October 10, 2010 at approximately 2038hrs, the Middle Township Police were dispatched to a report of a domestic dispute involving a possible parental abduction and the accused was reported to be driving an orange Honda Element. The caller reported that her husband had thrown her out of their vehicle, threatened to harm her and their son and then drove off with their son in the car. The suspect was reported to be armed and dangerous. Officers responding to the area located the vehicle on Route 9 in Rio Grande and conducted a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle in the parking lot of Wal-Mart. The suspect was cooperative and was found to not be in possession of any weapons.
The responding officers spoke with the victim and the suspect and learned that the suspect made threats to harm his wife and child, but he had not actually done so. The victim reported that she had not been thrown out of the vehicle; she exited voluntarily because of the threats made by her husband. The suspect’s son was already in the vehicle when he drove off and the investigation revealed that this was not a parental abduction.
The suspect was transported to Headquarters where he was charged with Terroristic Threats against his wife. He was processed and released on a summons. The victim declined to obtain a restraining order at this time and made arrangements to stay with a relative.
