One high ranking lawmaker is coming to the teacher’s union defense. U.S. Senator Robert Menendez was giving a speech to the New Jersey Education Association and said he wants to ensure that teachers don’t get fired. Menendez said he is worried that Gov. Chris Christie wants to move teachers out of the classroom and onto the unemployment line. The teachers union makes up one of Menendez’s voting blocks. Christie has been pushing for tenure to be eliminated for teachers in the state.
