A new study found that millions are stolen nationwide by prisoners, trying to collect tax refund money. United States Senator Robert Menendez called on New Jersey to share information with the IRS in order to curb the practice. Estimates say that $900,000 was taken by prisoners in New Jersey, filing 2009 returns. The money would often be sent to friends or family.
