A truce is being urged by the state’s two U.S. Senators. Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez wrote a letter to Gov. Chris Christie and U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood to come up with a compromise over the $271 million that the state is said to owe after canceling the ARC Tunnel project, according to the Star-Ledger. The report says that the state has already shelled out $1.5 million in legal fees and it is estimated that interest and penalties could result in an additional $18 million per year. To this point, both sides have not been willing to meet in the middle.
