A group of federal lawmakers got together during the weekend to talk out against offshore drilling. U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker, along with U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone held the press event on Sunday to speak out against a plan by the Obama Administration to allow offshore drilling near Virginia, North and South Carolina, and Georgia. They said the drilling could impact tourism in New Jersey if there was a major oil spill, like the one in the Gulf of Mexico back in 2010. Using the #killthedrill, the lawmakers noted the Jersey Shore already has been impacted by Sandy and the most recent Winter Storm Jonas, they didn’t need another threat added to it.
