The Cape May County Police Academy and the Cape May County Chiefs of Police will hold a memorial service for the police officers killed in the line of duty in Cape May County at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010. The Service will take place at the Cape May County Public Safety Training Center located at 171 Crest Haven Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey.
Speakers at the Memorial Service will include Congressman Frank LoBiondo, State Senator Jeff Van Drew, Assemblymen Nelson Albano and Matt Milam, Freeholder Director Daniel Beyel, Freeholder Vice-Director Ralph E. Sheets, Jr., Sheriff Gary Schaffer, Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Chief Robert Matteucci, President, CMC Chiefs of Police.
“Every one of us – regardless of our profession or station in life – recognizes that there is no greater purpose in life than serving and protecting one’s community,” Freeholder Vice-Director Ralph E. Sheets, Jr. said. “And there is no greater honor than having the courage to sacrifice one’s life in fulfilling this purpose.”
