A proposal to increase the minimum wage in the state will be introduced on Monday. Senate President Steve Sweeney is expected to drop the bill that would allow voters to have a say on increasing the minimum wage on a ballot question. The measure would increase the minimum wage to $8.25 from $7.25, and allow for future increases to be decided upon based on indexing of national economic data. Gov. Chris Christie had previously said he wouldn’t support any future increases tied to indexing.
