MEASURE PROPOSED TO CHARGE CUSTOMERS WHO — USE PLASTIC BAGS AT STORES

It could soon cost five cents for every plastic bag you get at a supermarket. A Senate committee passed a measure that could charge customer five cents for every plastic bag they get in a store. A similar measure was proposed a few years back, but failed to get any traction. The legislation would also allow stores to offer a five cent credit to customers who use reusable bags. Money raised would help keep the Barnegat Bay clean.
