A local product will have the chance to make an impact in the major league’s this year. Matt Szczur has made the opening day roster for the Chicago Cubs. Szczur played in high school at Lower Cape May Regional and played college baseball at Villanova. Szczur made his first appearance in the MLB last season. He batted .354 in spring training and had five home runs. The Cubs play their season opener on Sunday night against the St. Louis Cardinals.
