Margate City is considering filing an appeal to the April N.J. Superior Court ruling that the state has the right to take easements on their beachfront properties through eminent domain. The state wants to build dunes to protect the city from storms and hurricanes, while local residents have many concerns about the project. On Tuesday city officials met with representatives of the state Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to discuss the details of the proposed dune project. The city has less than three weeks to file an appeal.
