A public hearing was held Thursday night by the Margate Board of Commissioners on a proposed lighting ordinance regulating the use of outdoor lighting in the city. The Downbeach Current reports that the ordinance was developed after complaints about light pollution from the “blue house”, a residence on North Haverford Avenue decorated with blue lights that shine into neighbors windows at night. The eight page ordinance specifies regulations for footcandles, correlated color temperature, illuminance, and other technical terms, to avoid any doubt concerning enforcement.
