Most of those who lost a home to foreclosure in recent years won’t be returning to the real estate market any time soon. The National Association of Realtors found that a little more than 30 percent of those who were foreclosed on or who went through a short sale will be back in the real estate market by 2023. The study shows that most will be working to save up for a downpayment again or need the time to repair their credit score. Roughly 9.3 million properties went through one of those processes from 2006 to 2014.
