MAN THREATENS TO SHOOT POLICE, ARRESTED AFTER LONG STANDOFF

After a nine hour standoff with police, a man surrendered to police with a self-inflicted gun shot wound. The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of 44-year-old Edward Cerwonka, of North Cape May. Cerwonka was charged with terroristic threats. Police were initially called to the scene to check on the well-being of an occupant. The suspect then threatened to shoot police, which started the standoff.
