An Egg Harbor Township man who was indicted for murder in July, pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in court on Tuesday.
Harry Shuman, 48, was arrested and charged with aggravated manslaughter and weapons offenses in connection with the death of his neighbor, Ralph Tozer Jr., 27, who was found fatally shot inside an Atlantic Gardens mobile home park residence.
Shuman pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter, which has a maximum sentence of 30 years. In accordance with the plea agreement, Shuman faces up to a 20-year prison sentence subject to NERA (No Early Release Act), according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor John Maher, who represented the State. NERA requires that 85-percent (or 17 years of a 20-year sentence) be served before parole eligibility.
Sentencing will take place on February 9. Shuman currently remains in custody at The Atlantic County Justice Facility.
