A 44-year old Egg Harbor Township man was arrested and charged with multiple offenses including first degree aggravated sexual assault, second degree endangering the welfare of a child, and second degree sexual assault, resulting from assaults on two separate individuals, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel announced.
Roderick Knox, of Glenn Avenue, was taken into custody by members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, Prosecutor Housel stated.
It is alleged that on diverse dates in August 2010 Knox committed various sexual acts upon a juvenile who reported the incidents to DYFS who in turn contacted the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office. During the course of the investigation detectives uncovered information that led them to another individual who alleged that Knox had similarly assaulted that individual during the summer of 1995. The victims’ identities are not being released due to the nature of the offenses.
Knox was transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of $350,000 cash bail.
A crime of the first-degree carries with it up a term of up to 20 years in prison and $200,000 fine. A second-degree crime carries a term of up to 10 years in prison and a $150,000 fine.
