A string of bad luck for a Pennsylvania man who accidentally shot himself then found himself in jail after he was treated for the wound. Wildwood Crest Police said 30-year-old Alexander Wiederhold of Frackville PA had a gun in his waistband while he was carrying bags to a city motel room on Tuesday afternoon when the firearm discharged. Weiderhold was accompanied by a Sabrina Sweed, a 29-year-old female and a six year-old child when the accident occurred. Neither of the companions were injured but the handgun was illegal according to authorities. The weapon had a high-capacity magazine and was loaded with hollow point bullets. Weiderhold was treated for his leg wound at Atlantic City Medical Center after the incident which occurred around 4:14 pm and then was taken to the Cape May County jail, charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, and for possession of the high-capacity magazine and the hollow point bullets, in addition to endangering the welfare of a child. The woman was also charged on the weapons offenses, because the gun was registered in her name. Neither had a concealed carry permit.
