After months of debate, the Lower Township Council voted against dissolving the Municipal Utilities Authority, and merging its employees into the township’s payroll. The 3-2 vote along party lines, came Monday night after three hours of testimony from experts, public comment and discussion. Instead of reorganizing the MUA at an estimated cost savings of nearly $1 million, township council would not approve a bond ordinance to assume the water and sewer utility’s $17.9 million in debt. The vote effectively killed other ordinances to dissolve the MUA and create a new township water & sewer utility.
