Lower Township has announced the retirement of their police Chief Brian Marker after 27 years of service to the township. Marker will retire on July 1st after the swearing in of a new chief at the township’s council meeting. Chief Marker became a patrolman in Lower Township at age 21 and worked with the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Tactical Patrol Team, with a concentration on drug interdiction. During his tenure as chief, Marker increased the number of police officers and stressed training and proper supervision. Marker says he will remain active in community affairs when needed after his retirement.
