LOWER TWP. MAN CHARGED IN MEAT CLEAVER ATTACK

A Lower Township man was arrested on Monday evening for allegedly threatening his girlfriend and a neighbor with a chain saw and meat cleaver. According to police, John B. Zagiel III, 28, was involved in an argument with his girlfriend at the Villa Woods Apartment Complex on Bayshore Road at about 6 p.m. Monday evening. When a neighbor intervened, Zagiel chased the two with a four-foot metal chain and a meat cleaver before they were able to lock themselves in a vehicle to escape injury. Zagiel was charged with second degree aggravated assault, and weapons charges. Bail was set at $52,500 full cash.
