Hundreds of local residents gathered at Sunset Beach Wednesday evening as Lower Township held their annual 9/11 ceremony, in conjunction with the nightly flag lowering ceremony. The casket flag of Paul Pansini, a New York City firefighter who lost his life at the World Trade Center, was flown during the ceremony. Pansini’s widow Janice, spoke to the crowd, along with Lower Township Mayor Mike Beck and West Cape May Mayor Pam Kaithern. Dozens of members the Red Knights, an international firefighter’s motorcycle club, were in attendance, along with a detail from the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center.
