Lower Township Police are telling their side of the story regarding the shutdown of the Sunset Beach Gift Shop and miniature golf course over the weekend. Police say the owner of the store and his adult son became very agitated when police had to close both operations because they defied the gubernatorial executive order regarding non-essential business. The officer attempted to de-escalate the situation and only mentioned that there would be a charge for disorderly conduct if they interfered with the officer’s ability to communicate with his department. Customers inside the store and on the golf course were allowed to complete their purchases, and finish their games.
