Lower Township Police have announced the arrest of a local man on charges that he allegedly stole firearms and jewelry from a local residence last week.
Additional follow-up by Lower Township Detectives lead to identifying the suspect Ronald E. Cox III of 124 Bayridge Road in the North Cape May section of Lower Township. The jewelry had been traced to a local business which buys gold. Cox had sold a large amount of jewelry at this location prior to the theft being reported. Through further follow-up information was developed that the firearms had been taken to a gun dealer in Belleplain where they were later recovered with the assistance of the New Jersey State Police.
Cox was charged with theft of the jewelry and firearms. He was arrested at his residence and brought to the Lower Township Police Department for processing. Bail was set at $15,000.00 by Municipal Court Judge Christopher Robertson. Cox was then transferred to the Cape May County Correctional Center.
The case was investigated by Detectives Art Mason and Joe Boyle.
