The Lower Township Police Department kept busy over the July 4th holiday weekend. Police there responded to over 400 calls. A couple of those calls included DWI arrests:
One (1) DWI arrest occurred after an off-duty Wildwood Crest Police Officer followed a vehicle driving recklessly from Wildwood into Lower Township, where the vehicle was eventually stopped with the driver of that vehicle having a blood alcohol content over three (3) times the legal limit.
One (1) DWI arrest was a result of a motor vehicle accident on Hollywood Avenue in the Villas. The driver of that motor vehicle was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center where Lower Township Police Officers retrieved a blood sample from the driver and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated.
Also, officers responded to a Domestic Violence incident where a woman was arrested for striking her husband with a hammer. The woman was charged on a warrant with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She was also charged with obstruction of justice and resisting arrest and was subsequently released after paying 10 percent of a $15,000 bail.
