Officials in Lower Township are proposing a new ordnance that could help reduce thefts by metal scrapping. Current regulations prohibit scrappers from taking curbside metals put out for trash pick-up. NBC-40 reports that township officials believe their community will be safer if scrapping is regulated. The report says that tonnage of all metals turned in by scrappers in Lower Township will be reported and therefore used as information to receive recycling rebates and grants from the county and state.
