The Lower Township Police Department responded to a two car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Sally Marshall crossing and Seashore Road in the Erma section of Lower Township on March 13, 2011 at 4:30 pm.
Upon arrival the driver of one vehicle which had been struck in the door area causing severe damage to the vehicle had to be extricated from the vehicle by firemen from the Erma and Villas Volunteer Fire Companies.
Lower Township Rescue responded and treated the injured at the scene. The driver who had to be extricated was airlifted to Atlanticare Regional Trauma Center. The two passengers in the same vehicle were taken by Lower Township Rescue to Cape Regional Medical Center. The driver of the second vehicle was uninjured and was the only occupant of that vehicle.
Both vehicles sustained damages which caused them to be towed from the scene. The police investigation showed that one vehicle failed to stop or yield to oncoming traffic at a stop sign located on Sally Marshall Crossing and the second vehicle which was traveling north bound on Seashore Road struck the vehicle.
The juvenile driver was charged with a motor vehicle violation for failure to stop or yield. The accident was investigated by Patrolman Brian McEwing.
