LOWER COUNCIL SHOOTS DOWN PLAN TO MAKE CONTRACT PROPOSALS PUBLIC

A proposal to allow labor contract proposals available for public view before they are voted on by council was voted down in Lower Township. Council met on Wednesday for an issue that was not on the agenda, but had been discussed in the past. Union leadership was against the proposal. Typically, unions and council will negotiate and then the contracts will go to the union for a vote, followed by council. Mayor Mike Beck was the only member of council to support the initiative.
