Lower Township Council unanimously voted to apply for the Hurricane Sandy Coastal Resiliency Competitive Grant Program which could bring $250,000 in federal funds to pay for projects that restore ecological systems and protect communities. The Hurricane Sandy Coastal Resiliency Competitive Grants Program will award more than $100 million in grants throughout the region affected by Hurricane Sandy. In Lower Township, $250,000 in grant funds would go toward enhancing the various existing flood protection measures, including dunes, bulkheads and vegetation.
