Lower Township Council has reduced the budget down to one cent. Councilman Tom Conrad told Coastal Broadcasting that cuts in a number of areas helped council reach the number. Some of the cuts include overtime in two departments equaling $25,000, and tipping fees have gone down and these that reflected a decrease in the amount the township had to spend. Also, council agreed to add in just over $110,000 from the reserve for uncollected taxes and $40,000 from the surplus to bring the tax rate down.
