The Middle Township Middle School honored veterans on Tuesday, including five of their own teachers who served with the military. Iraq veteran state Assemblyman Bob Andrzejczak joined World War II veterans Charlie Ellner and Dick Quinn as guest speakers during a two-hour ceremony and lunch. A report in the Middle Township Gazette quotes portions of their stories as told to more than 50 students. Quinn served with the Navy and brought a copy of the Philadelphia Daily News, published Dec. 8th, 1941, one day after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. The headline read “U.S. Declares War” with a banner headline declaring 1,500 dead in Hawaii.
