LOCAL TEAM WINS BABE RUTH WORLD SERIES

On Saturday, the Atlantic Shore 14 year-old baseball team won the 14U Babe Ruth World Series title, after beating the Tri-Valley team from Fulton, California 8-7 in the title game. The team was welcomed home on Sunday with a police escort and caravan from the Northfield Volunteer Fire Company, to Fehrle Field in Somers Point, where they play their home games. The Babe Ruth baseball team consists of 14 year-old players from Northfield, Upper Township, Linwood, Ocean City, Ventnor and Atlantic City. The team finished their championship season with a record of 21-0. The players and coaches, along with their families, friends and local businesses raised over $20,000 to pay for the team’s trip to Arkansas.
