Once again a local artist has put his talent on display, and this time it’s all for the love of our Super Bowl bound Philadelphia Eagles. Brendan Schaffer, a Lower Township resident whose sand sculptures (and snow sculptures when weather permits) have gotten plenty of notice, has constructed an 8-foot high sand creation on Cove Beach in Cape May: a detailed Philadelphia Eagles logo. In televised reports, he said the work took five hours last Thursday to create. He also has had to do touch-ups since, because of weather such as last weekend’s strong wind. Schaffer works for Wildwood Public Schools as an after-school program leader, but has been a semi-pro sand sculptor since 2015. The plan is to keep the sculpture intact until Super Bowl Sunday, when the Eagles will face the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2023 NFL Championship. (Photo courtesy Schaffer Art Studios Facebook)
