Middle Township Police have charged a local man after he drove into a local marsh with a large amount of marijuana and cash in his possession. Township police say 24 year old John Mathis of Rio Grande drove his vehicle into a marsh at the intersection of Ocean Drive and Old North Wildwood Boulevard early Thursday morning. Police arrived and found a large amount of marijuana and some cash inside his vehicle. Mathis was charged with possession and distribution offenses, and released on bail. According to police, his vehicle went off the roadway and struck a boat trailer before going into the marsh.
