The Cape May Superathlon kicked off the 2016 lifeguard competition season with a win by the host beach patrol. Rob Moran, a 27 year-old Cape May lifeguard, won the run-row-swim event in 45 minutes, 7 seconds after qualifying for the race for the first time in his career. Moran is an attorney from Haddonfield and the first Cape May Beach Patrol member to win the event since 1991.
