Jazz pianist and arranger George Mesterhazy died suddenly at his Cape May home on Thursday. The 58 year-old jazz artist had performed throughout the world and could often be found playing the piano for patrons of The Merion Inn in Cape May. Mesterhazy was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1997 and was planning to perform in New York this May to celebrate the release of his latest recording with singer Paula West. The Somers Point Jazz Society is planning a tribute to Mesterhazy in the near future.
