The democratic party’s failure to override some budget decisions made by republican Governor Chris Christie have drawn the attention of the local GOP. Republican senate and assembly candidates issued a press release blasting veteran democratic State Senator Jeff Van Drew for voting “in lockstep with his fellow Trenton democrats, attempting to add one billion dollars in new spending to the state budget”. Democrats failed to override some of the governor’s line item vetoes of various expenses in the state budget. Van Drew will be challenged by republican David DeWeese in the November election.
