LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS GETTING NEARLY $600,000 IN FEMA GRANT FUNDING

A dozen local fire departments are getting nearly $600,000 in funding from FEMA for the purchase of dual band radios.  The application was made by the Avalon Volunteer Fire Department and the Cape May County Department of Emergency Management in behalf of the 12 participating communities.  The radios are used to deploy firefighters and equipment between the departments, cutting down on response time.
