A 17 year-old Cape May Court House athlete won a gold medal in the triathlon Sunday at the Special Olympics World Games in Long Beach, California. Noah Dellas completed the race in just under one hour and 13 minutes. Dellas beat the second-place finisher, Mervin Allesander Da Rin Llanes of Uruguay, by almost 5 minutes. His trainer, Lisa Rumer of Upper Township, was there to cheer him on at the competition, which consisted of a half-mile open-water swim, 11-mile bike ride and 3.1-mile run. Dellas, a student at Cape May Technical High School, will compete in the men’s one-mile open-water swim on Thursday.
