Upon news that some NFL teams are paid to advertise to recruit for the military, a new bill would ban that practice. Congressman Frank LoBiondo is sponsoring a bill that would redirect federal funding for “Paid-For Patriotism” at sporting events to post-traumatic stress disorder research for members of the Armed Service. The so-called “Paid-For Patriotism” was represented by the sports team as a selfless act rather than a paid advertisement at taxpayer expense. It often include a salute to the troops before or during the game.
