Worries from air travelers were alleviated before the weekend. The FAA was given the flexibility it needed from the government to allow for furloughed air traffic controllers to return to work as normal. Congressman Frank LoBiondo shared this statement, “The Obama Administrations’ inaction to mitigate the furloughs of air traffic controllers created preventable frustrations to the flying public and airlines while causing inexcusable harm to our economy. The FAA should have properly planned for these long-known spending cuts as the Justice Department, Homeland Security and even Vice President Biden’s office have done. Congress has now reaffirmed the flexibility FAA has always had to responsibly manage their operations without compromising the safety of the aviation system.”
