U.S. Representative Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-02) today issued the following statement regarding the report from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s “New Jersey Gaming, Sports and Entertainment Advisory Commission” which included its recommendations for gaming interests in the state and subsequent impact on Atlantic City:
“Today’s news is certainly encouraging for the long-term interests of Atlantic City and the state. It is refreshing to see Governor Christie’s vision to make Atlantic City a true family destination and that he recognizes its significant economic impact with nearly 40,000 jobs directly supported by gaming. While I continue to review his proposals, I applaud keeping CRDA money in Atlantic County, furthering the interests and quality of life for the residents who live and work in and around Atlantic City. Furthermore, I am particularly supportive of his bold plan to ensure Atlantic City’s revival is not undercut by competition within the state, including no longer allowing our casinos to be blackmailed into funding the lackluster horse-racing industry.”
