LITHUANIAN MAN CHARGED WITH ATTACK ON WOMAN IN AVALON

Avalon Police and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of a 22 year-old Lithuanian national for assaulting a woman early Sunday morning in Avalon. Two Avalon police officers were on bike patrol when they came upon a male assaulting an unconscious female at about 3 a.m. in the 2300 Block of Ocean Drive in Avalon. The officers arrested Egidijus Riaubys, who is living in Avalon for the summer on a work visa, and charged him with Aggravated Sexual Assault and Lewdness. The victim was a 28 year-old female from Pennsylvania, who was treated and released from Cape Regional Medical Center. If convicted, Riaubys could face 10 to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison.
