Federal legislation has been dropped to reauthorize a program to provide bulletproof vests. Congressman Frank LoBiondo helped sponsor the bill that would aid in the purchasing of protective equipment. The last reauthorization was in 2008. Since 1999, the program has provided $375 million in federal funds to support the purchase of more than 1.1 million vests.
