Lower Cape May Regional alumni Matt Szczur knocked in the winning run Tuesday night as the Chicago Cubs beat the New York Mets 1-0 at Citi Field. Szczur’s family and friends attended the game, in which he started, played left field and batted sixth. In the sixth inning, Szczur doubled off the base of the left-field wall to drive in the games’s only run. He went 2 for 3 at the plate on Tuesday and is hitting .214 in 31 games for the Cubs, with one home run and eight RBI.
