A new bill has cleared an Assembly committee that would allow New Jersey college students to freeze their tuition payments once they enter college for nine consecutive semesters. The Assembly Higher Education Committee approved the bill on Thursday with unanimous support. Not everyone likes the bill, including some universities who believe colleges will just automatically inflate the first year tuition to a higher level in order to make up for the lost revenue. Over the past six years, tuition at New Jersey colleges has increased by 23 percent.
