Silent alarms should be installed in New Jersey public schools. That’s the opinion of a North Jersey lawmaker who thinks the silent alarms would help prevent massive school tragedies in the Garden State. Assemblyman Ralph Caputo says the silent alarms would let authorities know there is trouble in the school and a red light would flash on the exterior of the building. Caputo says the silent alarm concept is in reaction to last year’s school shooting in Connecticut.
