Legislation is being introduced this week to hamper Gov. Chris Christie’s ability to travel out of state for events. An executive order signed by former Gov. Jim McGreevey allows for “gifts, favors, services, gratuities, meals, lodging or travel expenses from relatives or personal friends that are paid for with personal funds.” This is how Christie attended Dallas Cowboys games last year when Cowboys owner Jerry Jones paid for it. Assemblyman John Wisniewski is sponsoring a measure that would put the same cap on Christie as other lawmakers have regarding personal gifts.
