LAUTENBERG WILL NOT SEEK RE-ELECTION IN ’14

United States Senator Frank Lautenberg will not seek re-election next year.  Lautenberg on Friday will announce that he will not seek re-election to his United States Senate seat which will end a three decade run in politics.  Lautenberg is 89 years old; his decision clearly opens the way for Newark Mayor Cory Booker to seek his party’s nomination for the job next year.  In recent weeks, Lautenberg has been outspoken about the ban on assault weapons that has lapsed.
