An Atlantic City man was convicted of murder in Atlantic County Superior Court for the 2012 fatal shooting of a Pleasantville man. An Atlantic County jury found Gregory J. Gibbs, 37, of Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ, guilty of murder and three weapons possession charges for the December 3, 2012 shooting death of Chikki Smith, 33, of Pleasantville, in a parking lot behind a bar on South Main Street in Pleasantville. The murder conviction carries a sentence of life imprisonment in State Prison with a minimum of 30 years without parole. Pursuant to the No Early Release Act (NERA), 85% of the sentence must be served before becoming eligible for parole. Sentencing will take place on June 9.
